The electric parking brake is released when all of the following conditions are fulfilled:

  • The driver's door is closed.

  • The engine is running.

  • A gear has been selected and you depress the accelerator pedal.

  • When the reverse gear is selected, the boot lid must be closed.

If the electric parking brake is released, the indicator lamp in the instrument cluster goes out.

Vehicles with automatic transmission:

The electric parking brake is released when all of the following conditions are fulfilled:

  • The engine is running.

  • The seat belt tongue is inserted into the seat belt buckle.

  • The transmission is in position or and you depress the accelerator pedal or you shift from transmission position to or .

  • If the transmission is in position , the boot lid must be closed.

If the seat belt tongue is not inserted into the seat belt buckle, the following conditions must be fulfilled:

  • The driver's door is closed.

  • You move the transmission out of transmission position or you have previously driven faster than 2 mph (3 km/h).

  • If the transmission is in position , the boot lid must be closed.

If the electric parking brake is released, the indicator lamp in the instrument cluster goes out.
