Attaching Top Tether
WARNING Risk of injury or death if the rear seat backrests are not locked after fitting Top Tether belts

The rear seat backrests can be folded forwards.

As a result, child restraint systems can no longer provide their intended protective function. This may cause additional injuries.

Always lock rear seat backrests after fitting Top Tether belts.
Observe the lock verification indicator.
Set the rear seat backrests to the upright position.

Ensure that the red lock verification indicator on the loop on top of the rear bench seat is no longer visible.

If the child restraint system is equipped with a Top Tether belt:

The risk of injury can be reduced by Top Tether. The Top Tether belt allows an additional connection between the child restraint system attached with ISOFIX and the vehicle.

Fit the ISOFIX child restraint system with Top Tether. Be sure to comply with the installation instructions from the manufacturer of the child restraint system when doing so.
Slide the head restraint upwards.
Guide Top Tether belt under the head restraint between the two head restraint bars.
Guide Top Tether belt between the seat backrest and the rear shelf into the load compartment.
If necessary, remove the rear shelf.
Attach Top Tether hook to Top Tether anchorage .
If necessary, lift the carpet slightly.
Ensure that:

  • Top Tether hook is attached to Top Tether anchorage as shown.

  • Top Tether belt is not twisted.

  • When the rear shelf is installed, Top Tether belt runs between the seat backrest and the rear shelf.

Tension Top Tether belt . Be sure to comply with the installation instructions from the manufacturer of the child restraint system when doing so.
If necessary, slide the head restraint downwards again slightly.
Make sure that you do not interfere with the correct routing of Top Tether belt .
