Opening and closing the service flap
WARNING Risk of accident due to driving with the service flap unlocked

An unlocked service flap may disengage when the vehicle is in motion and block your view or endanger other road users.

Before every journey, ensure that the service flap is locked.
WARNING Risk of injury from using the windscreen wipers when the service flap is open

If the windscreen wipers are set in motion when the service flap is open, you may be trapped by the wiper linkage.

Always switch off the windscreen wipers and ignition before opening the service flap.
Unlocking the service flap

In smart vehicles, the operating fluid reservoirs are located under the service flap at the front.

Observe all safety regulations when working on the vehicle. Always have work in the engine compartment carried out at a qualified specialist workshop.

Carefully remove snow and dirt from the ventilation slots above the service flap so that air intake is ensured at all times.

The vehicle must be secured against rolling away.

For vehicles with a lockable service flap, this must be unlocked prior to opening it.

Insert the tip of the key into the opening in the lock cover .
Push the key to the right to lift the lock cover.
Remove the lock cover.
Insert the key in the lock and turn it clockwise by 90°.
Opening the service flap
Pull both levers in the direction of the arrow.
Lift the service flap at the front.
Pull the service flap forwards slightly and lift it upwards.
Carefully rest the service flap that is attached to the straps against the front end.
Closing the service flap
Lift the service flap and place it on the markings .
Push the service flap back forcefully.
Push both levers as far towards the rear as possible.

Check that the service flap has been closed correctly and there are no small objects (e.g. small stones) in the locking mechanisms.

Insert the key in the lock and turn it to position .
Insert and engage the lock cover on the driver's side.
