Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC automatically drives at the desired preset speed from 20 km/h whilst maintaining a safe distance from the vehicle driving in front. It is convenient for the driver when queuing in traffic on motorways and trunk roads, particularly in stop-start traffic. Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC is active in a speed range from 0 to 200 km/h and can also be activated when stationary without a vehicle driving in front. It uses information from the radar sensor system to react to vehicles cutting in and vehicles driving ahead in good time. The brakes are applied automatically with up to 50% of the maximum braking power. In situations demanding higher deceleration values, the driver is warned visually and audibly.
