Diesel engines
The diesel particulate filter is capable of filtering more than 99% solid particles (based on the particle mass from the exhaust gas). This takes place without the use of additives and therefore requires no servicing. Filter regeneration, initiated by the electronic engine control, is controlled by the pressure and temperature of the exhaust at the filter. The soot particles deposited on the filter duct walls are incinerated at exhaust gas temperatures above 600°C. Filter regeneration is initiated by an increase in the exhaust gas temperature and remains unnoticed by the occupants and other road users.
