MULTIBEAM LED allows the driving lights to be adjusted to the current traffic situation almost instantaneously and with great accuracy. Each of the 84 individually controllable LEDs ensure that there is always light where it is needed. 4 control units in total calculate the ideal light profile 100 times per second using information from a camera placed behind the windscreen. The innovative technology expands on and refines the familiar functions of the Intelligent Light System. In main-beam mode, Adaptive Highbeam Assist Plus always illuminates a wide area of the road surface ahead without dazzling other road users. If there are vehicles driving in the opposite direction or in front, the LEDs of the main-beam modules are partially switched off to create a U-shaped gap in the light. The other areas of the road continue to be illuminated with the main beam (partial main beam). If the vehicle is detected as being on a motorway, the main beam lighting is distributed in a way that is best suited to this situation. The motorway main beam reduces the risk of dazzling oncoming trucks and focusses the truck driver's attention on their own lane. Depending on the traffic situation, the motorway partial main beam is activated so as to not dazzle other road users using a gap in the lighting.
